V. Stiviano might be many things (namely an artist, lover, writer, chef, poet, stylist and philanthropist), but she is not heartless.
Stiviano, who recently gained notoriety as Clippers basketball team owner Donald Sterling’s alleged ex-lover, is “very saddened” by the NBA’s decision to place a lifetime ban on Sterling, the Los Angeles Times reported. Her lawyer, Mac Nehoray, told the Times that Stiviano “never wanted to harm Donald.”
He also claimed that Stiviano did not release the recordings — “someone released it for money” — and is mortified about the incident. “My client is devastated that this got out,” he told the Times. Nehoray told the Los Angeles Times that he and Stiviano have an idea about who the person is.
Nehoray stated that Stiviano, 31, was never in a relationship with Sterling, 80. “It’s nothing like it’s been portrayed,” Nehoray said. “She’s not the type of person everyone says.” He said Sterling’s estranged wife, Rochelle, was friends with Stiviano and knew that Sterling had purchased an apartment for her.
He also described Stiviano as an upstanding citizen who worked as a waitress and volunteered to help crime victims before starting her job as an archivist for Sterling.
